The Philanthropic Fault Line: Exploring the Sometimes Shaky Ground between Foundations and Nonprofits

This town hall-style conversation in the studios of KCTS-TV explored the various relationships between foundations and nonprofit organizations. The panelists including EA Senior Policy Consultant, Putnam Barber and EA Member Pramila, Jayapal, The Hate-Free Zone, discussed finding common ground in the sometimes thorny and contentious landscape of power, control, collaboration, finding authentic voice, and funding in a results-based environment. A number of Council on Foundations conferees joined the greater Seattle philanthropic and nonprofit communities in this lively discussion.

Field Meeting with the Independent Sector "Panel on the Nonprofit Sector" - 10:00 A.M. to Noon Seattle Public Library Auditorium. Nancy Bell Evans Center and statewide collaborators including Executive Alliance will host a field meeting with representatives from the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector (one of 13 meetings across the country). The Panel was convened to propose to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee recommendations designed to strengthen charitable organizations and their operations (and accountability).
